Katie has always been a big fan of shopping, so when Frank smoothly asked her to help him go shopping to decorate his new house, Katie was more than happy to oblige. Frank quickly stole Katie’s heart, and it soon became clear that they made a great team! Katie professed, “Our time together is full of laughter, and I can’t wait to spend forever with him!”

These two laughed throughout their whole engagement session together! At the beginning of our shoot, Frank, who has a great love for dogs, had mentioned wanting to go pet a dog that he saw down the beach. Towards the end our session, a dog ran up to Katie and Frank, gave them both kisses, stopped to pose, and smiled for the camera!!! Funniest photobomb ever!!

Brynn | “Keeping the Peace” | Newborn Session | Nancy Wiley Photography | Virginia Beach Newborn Photographer

Sweet baby Brynn’s parents started their journey in not the most typical romantic environment. They like to tell people that they met in jail, and then usually get some pretty stunned looks and are asked for more details!! Jacqueline and Cody actually met at the Norfolk City jail where they both worked; Jacqueline as a nurse, and Cody as a police officer.

“We joke and say that we are the typical American family – a cop and a nurse!” Jacqueline shared. Cody was born and raised in Virginia, while Jacqueline is originally from Germany and moved to the States when she was 12. Jacqueline enlisted in the Army Reserves, which brought her to Virginia Beach. Check out the special poses of newborn Brynn with her daddy’s police cap and mommy’s uniform and dog tags!

Tiny Brynn kept her parents on their toes the whole pregnancy with small hiccups here and there, and decided to make her entrance into the world three weeks early! Brynn was what is called “Frank breech” inside her mommy’s womb, so her little legs stuck straight up in front of her body with her feet near her head. During her session, Brynn’s sweet legs decided they were most comfortable sticking straight out, sometimes right up in the air, even while completely relaxed and asleep! 🙂 Also check out the insanely cute little pout that Brynn puts on while her mommy was holding her! Too precious!!

Campbell Family Sunset Session | Captain Colton is One! | Nancy Wiley Photography | Virginia Beach Family Photography

Little Captain Colton is ONE! What a fun time it has been, and what an honor it was to capture sweet Colton so many times in the past year. Jen & Jason made sure to get portraits of their little boy every season of his first year! I know from experience that time flies by so fast, especially that first precious year of life!

The Campbells had their engagement, trash the dress, and maternity photos done at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia Beach, so it was only fitting that they chose this location to share with Mr. Colton! Even with a missed afternoon nap, Colton observed his surroundings with awe, held his little feet up in the air so they wouldn’t touch the grass, and talked to and waved to the birds. Jacob & Aubrey celebrated their Prom Night by dining at Lynnhaven Fish House, and followed suit by a little photo session under the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier. These two clearly have lots of fun together, as I witnessed them laughing, teasing, and practicing some suave dance moves, before they literally ran off together to Prom!!

The Corsos had a ball laughing, playing with Curious George, and climbing a live oak during their spring session! Sweet big brother Zeke picked out flowers for his baby sister Summer who just turned one, and Summer may have tasted one or two flowers as well! I absolutely adore capturing precious natural moments for loving families like this!

Workman Family | A Curious Case of Twins | Family Session | VA Beach Family Photographer

Krystal & Jared roamed the First Landing State Park sands in Virginia Beach chasing their sweet and fun TWINS, Jakob & Joslyn, while vacationing for the 4th of July weekend. According to Krystal, their family’s story line is still unfolding, but it sounds to me like the family has quite a bit going on already! In Krystal’s words, “Parenting has changed our lives, and parenting twins has been intense… but highly enjoyable at the same time.” Currently, they are loving the 4-year-old stage! Each twin is developing who they are and they are providing them tools and resources to explore their world. Krystal explained that the twins’ curiosity is extraordinary, and they try to feed their curiosity appetite through books and exposure to new things.

I definitely got to experience Jakob & Joslyn’s adorable curiosity. To get some big smiles, the twins shared giggles over Dung Beetles — something the two had recently learned about in one of their books! Haha! When they came across some small washed up jellyfish, the two eagerly held them and quietly observed them with pure fascination. Curious kiddos are such a wonderful constant reminder to appreciate the little everyday things and to remain curious ourselves!

Mom, Krystal, has also been very busy with a recent invention and patent of a twin baby carrier that she is currently working to mass produce! An incredibly handy invention in my opinion, for anyone with twins, and especially anyone with young children close in age! Babywearing was a total lifesaver for my own high-needs baby a couple years ago! Karen + Jef | A Spirited Backyard Wedding | VA Beach Wedding Photographer

Karen & Jef were friends back in high school. Karen was a cheerleader, Jef a football player, and the two worked out together practicing the high jump. Twenty-five years later when they would reunite at a party, Jef would say, “I remember you… Kim Collins!” Haha!

The couple reconnected as friends initially, and they then supported each other through some very sad and challenging times. It was once Karen invited Jef and his son Mason over for dinner and a Redskins game that the two truly connected. Knowing that they were both die hard Skins fans, Karen & Jef’s relationship was bound to be solid!!

Karen & Jef were definitely meant to meet up again! Bold and spirited, the two make quite the pair!! If only you could hear the commentary between these two throughout their big day! Maybe you can tell what types of comments they had from some of the expressions in these photos!

Their wedding took place on a beautiful, sun-filled evening; the night after some pretty big thunderstorms in Virginia Beach. The ceremony was sweet and simple, with gorgeous bright coral incorporated into all the details. After the end of the couple’s sand ceremony, each of their sons came up and added a piece of sea glass to the vase to represent the joining of their families.

I have no doubt that Karen & Jef will have loads of fun together in their married life. They are already such a riot together! These two have plenty adventures to come, I’m sure!!
