Katie + Frank | Engagement Session | Nancy Wiley Photography | Virginia Beach Photographer

Katie has always been a big fan of shopping, so when Frank smoothly asked her to help him go shopping to decorate his new house, Katie was more than happy to oblige. Frank quickly stole Katie’s heart, and it soon became clear that they made a great team! Katie professed, “Our time together is full of laughter, and I can’t wait to spend forever with him!”

These two laughed throughout their whole engagement session together! At the beginning of our shoot, Frank, who has a great love for dogs, had mentioned wanting to go pet a dog that he saw down the beach. Towards the end our session, a dog ran up to Katie and Frank, gave them both kisses, stopped to pose, and smiled for the camera!!! Funniest photobomb ever!!

Ginny + Brian | A Surprise Proposal | VA Beach Engagement Photographer

Ginny was actually the one to contact me months back about doing a family session for her, her boyfriend Brian, and her daughter Haley. I was so happy when we were able to get together to do the session amongst the gorgeous, colorful, fall leaves. Much to my surprise, Brian slipped me a little note shortly after arriving that said, “I have a ring, and I plan to propose, so be prepared!” Before I knew what the note said, I responded with a loud, “Thank you!!” thinking he was handing me their session payment. Thankfully Ginny didn’t notice anything and was still completely clueless! Haha, phew!!

About half-way through our session, Brian got down on one knee, and proposed to Ginny!! She was totally surprised and cried tears of joy! The couple then spent a couple sweet moments hugging Haley and enjoying the moment together. We just had to do a quick reenactment with the fall leaves in the background as well! What a perfectly beautiful place for a proposal that was made so much more special with Ginny’s sweet daughter there! How awesome is this background with Haley’s beautiful hair too?!

Chelsea & John | Fairy Tales Do Come True | Hampton Roads Engagement Photographer

Once up on a time… there was a little girl named Chelsea who was a huge Disney fan. She always loved hearing stories about Cinderella waiting for her Prince Charming. Years later, Chelsea’s own Prince Charming didn’t exactly show up in shining armor, but over time John definitely proved to Chelsea that fairy tales really do come true…

Chelsea & John actually began as friends. They met in Santoro Residence Hall on the campus of Christopher Newport University almost 5 years ago. Chelsea gave John her number, and the two hung out as friends initially, until they eventually became more.  

It was John’s super sweet and romantic fairy tale proposal that truly swept Chelsea off her feet…

In Chelsea’s own words:

“So, both of our families were staying down at the oceanfront. My brother, his brother, and some of our guy friends came into our hotel room and gave me two envelopes. One was from all of our guy friends we had made throughout our relationship. The other envelope was the word ‘WILL’ and had everything he will do for me and how he’d always be there. Next, I went to put on the outfit that my mom had picked out for me. Then, the guys took me to the next stop where my friends who I’ve known since elementary school were there with again, two envelopes. One with letters from all the girls we met throughout our relationship, and the other said ‘YOU’ and it was everything about how I much I meant to him. Finally, we went upstairs to where all our family was and they had a note that said ‘MARRY,’ and they told me to walk outside. John was there! He bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!”
 
A romantic little fairy tale, indeed! It was only fitting that I shot their engagement session on the campus of CNU where they met and began their relationship, as well as including a few Disney themed props down at the local historic Yorktown Beach. 
 
The two plan to be wed in December of next year. Can’t wait to capture them saying “I do” at their Disney themed wedding!!

Nicole + Dan | Engagement Session

What great fun it was to shoot this fall engagement session at Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach for one of my best friends, Nicole, and her fiance, Dan. I was so eagerly awaiting this photo shoot, as it was with my first official clients!! Being incredibly motivated to bring to life this dream of becoming a photographer has been amazing, and at the same time it has also made me feel a little bit insane due to the crazy amount of motivating adrenaline I’ve experienced the past week. Regardless, I am so excited to bring this dream to reality!

Nicole and Dan are two lovebirds that are so playful and happy together, they made my job very easy! Each are bringing their wonderful children with them to create a beautiful blended family of five. I look forward to an upcoming family session with them all!
