Yay For Harper Rhea | 2nd Birthday Celebration & Full-Speed Chase | VA Beach Photographer

Oh, little Miss Harper Rhea. Seriously never a dull moment with this girl!! If you want to have some fun, hang with Harper! I definitely got my little preggo workout in chasing this firecracker all over for her 2nd Birthday Celebration session! Harper is FAST, but oh so sweet and witty, stating, “I AM the princess!” Her grandma asked her if she had any sugar yet, and she responded, “I AM the sugar!” A couple accidental dips in the fish pond and pool and it was quite the event. Haha!

One of my favorite moments? When Harper opened up some pretty sparkly pink shoes, her face lit up and she exclaimed, “Shoes!!” and subsequently hugged and caressed her new favorite foot apparel. 🙂

Preston | Festive Fall Session | VA Beach Photographer

My little Kamden and I met Mr. Preston when he was only three months old! My neighbor and now good friend, Christine, and I were both walking our chronically cranky infants who much preferred to be outside. We soon learned that our little tykes had quite a bit in common, and over two years later they are great buddies! We shot this session at our beloved local park where we have spent many an outing chasing our active little boys all around. Preston was quite the impressive two-year-old at his session, giving me plenty of smiles, sitting, and waiting till we said okay for him to “go play with Kam?” 🙂 I just love themed sessions, and take a look at the beautiful fall colors starting to come out!

Kearstyn + Jerrimie | Home Is Where the Heart Is | 3 Year Anniversary | VA Beach Couples Photographer

Kearstyn and Jerrimie were high school sweethearts! They actually both met in Kindergarten, but didn’t start dating until their junior year of high school. Kearstyn and Jerrimie are both from small towns in Ohio, and the Marines brought them to Virginia a little over 2 1/2 years ago. Together they have a beautiful 20-month-old daughter named Natalee. They are anxiously awaiting Jerrimie’s new orders, but one thing is for sure, for Kearstyn and Jerrimie, “Home is where the heart is!”

I just love how they decided to celebrate their 3rd year of marriage with a sunset photo session together by the pier at Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach. It is so important to keep that spark alive!! ❤

Vecchio Family | A Virginia Beach Sunset & the Cutest Little Sand-Eater Ever | VA Beach Family Photographer

The Vecchio Family contacted me about doing a family session for them and to capture their fun little boy right after his first birthday! It was such a joy to hang out with this sweet family on the beach of First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach at sunset. There is nothing like a beach sunset!! Amelia & Mike’s little guy adventured through the park, conducted an antique train car, and sneaked numerous samples of Virginia Beach sand!! Haha!

The following is Amelia’s intro and description of their adorable little man…

“When I was pregnant we were so excited to meet our little boy. ‘What will he be like?’ We’d say. ‘Who will he be?’ Well, within a few days after he was born we figured out that he was a smiley, happy, interactive little guy, who nursed with enthusiasm and took to tummy time naturally. As time went on, we learned he had a silly side, a determined/stubborn side and an adventurous side, among others! Now that he’s a year, we have a walking, running, exploring, chattering, sweet little boy who laughs easily, and brings smiles to many people’s faces. We had such fun during this photo shoot! Many of these sides came out and several of our family shots had to be delayed while he explored his surroundings. Boy did he love the train and the sand!!”

Chen Family | Constantly On Their Toes | Family Session | Virginia Family Photographer

Liz and Ling met each other in college (Ling attended Virginia Tech and Liz went to George Mason University) and they were married after they graduated.  They now reside in Centreville, Virginia with their two children Leah (18 months) and Mitch (2.5 years) and their puggle Dilbert!

Mitch and Leah for the most part are loving siblings with the occasional hair-pulling and rivalry on who gets to sit in the front of the shopping cart when they go grocery shopping!!  Haha!  Their favorite activities together are playing with Legos (Leah usually demolishes anything that Mitch creates), hanging out with friends, teaming up to help each other steal snacks from the kitchen cabinets, and riding around the neighborhood in Mitch’s power tractor.  They are an energetic pair and are not known to stay or sit in one place for long periods of time which keeps both parents constantly on their toes!!

I definitely understand this with my own very active (crazy) one, so I could totally sympathize with Liz and Ling’s busy, busy lives! I just loved following Leah and Mitch around as they explored Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria, Virginia! I also loved how this family brought props to bang out two holiday pictures in one full session (Fall/Halloween/Christmas)!!

West Family | The Tale of Three Brothers | Virginia Family Photographer

Most can only imagine what life with three boys aged 3 and under is like on a daily basis, but the West family lives it every day! What fun, energetic, curious boys Ryan & Melissa have! Three-year-old twins Owen & Oliver, and two-year-old younger brother, Spencer. Despite the unusual September heat, the boys had fun exploring Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, Virginia.

To get the big smiles, we did have to do some silly talk specifically geared toward little boys, but all three boys definitely showed their great sense of humor!! Check out the behind-the-scenes action of dad passing out some treats in-between shots as some nice Skittles reinforcement! 🙂

Melissa + Pat | A Romantic Beginning | One Year Anniversary Session | Virginia Couple & Lifestyle Photographer

Melissa waited for Pat as he proudly served in Afghanistan in the Army, and once he returned, he has spent his time repaying Melissa every day by romantically meeting her needs, big and small! It was an honor to spend time with this sweet, self-proclaimed, “lovey dovey” couple, as I documented their first year of marriage in their first home together in Alexandria, Virginia. Melissa is obviously quite the decorator, and I instantly fell in love with her sense of style and design! The multiple antiques, photos of their wedding day and special moments, meaningful momentos from throughout their relationship, and special memorabilia from Pat’s Army days were gorgeously displayed around their home.

One item in particular was a little glass jar that Melissa sent to Pat while he was deployed to Afghanistan. It read, “100 Reasons Why I Love You,” and you could see that she listed (over) 100 reasons why she loved him on little pieces of paper inside. So sweet!! Just a small example of the many sweet things throughout their beautiful home.

Melissa & Pat cooked strawberry sprinkle pancakes together, laughed over the extremely thick syrup that Pat picked out, and toasted with mimosas to celebrate their first anniversary! They even shared some anniversary cupcakes — finally with their cute bird cupcake toppers (that were supposed to grace their actual wedding cake)!

After the lovely and intimate lifestyle session we did at their home, we headed to nearby historic Old Town Alexandria where I captured the two in a more formal out-on-the-town look! I just had to sneak in that American flag from a docked ship in the background for this patriotic couple!

Brendan & Ashton | A Cuddlebug & Dinosaur Kisses | Newborn Session | VA Beach Newborn Photograher

So, little Mr. 8-day-old Brendan was not feeling it at the beginning of our photo session… soiling all of our blankets one by one and staying awake for 3 hours!! We got a few very quick nakey shots, but decided that the only way we were going to be able to keep the little guy happy was to swaddle, bundle, and wrap his little cozy self up! Brendan is definitely a little cuddlebug who loves his mama already! Right at the end of his session, he relieved himself quite loudly, totally broke through his swaddle, and gave us all a “Peace out!” 

Big brother Ashton was very curious and sweet, nicknaming me “Mama man,” riding the antique wooden “choo-choo” train, playing with his favorite huge elephant (who also sleeps with him), and giving his little brother “dinosaur kisses!” He also easily recited most of his E.T. book out loud during our session. 🙂

Chelsea & John | Fairy Tales Do Come True | Hampton Roads Engagement Photographer

Once up on a time… there was a little girl named Chelsea who was a huge Disney fan. She always loved hearing stories about Cinderella waiting for her Prince Charming. Years later, Chelsea’s own Prince Charming didn’t exactly show up in shining armor, but over time John definitely proved to Chelsea that fairy tales really do come true…

Chelsea & John actually began as friends. They met in Santoro Residence Hall on the campus of Christopher Newport University almost 5 years ago. Chelsea gave John her number, and the two hung out as friends initially, until they eventually became more.  

It was John’s super sweet and romantic fairy tale proposal that truly swept Chelsea off her feet…

In Chelsea’s own words:

“So, both of our families were staying down at the oceanfront. My brother, his brother, and some of our guy friends came into our hotel room and gave me two envelopes. One was from all of our guy friends we had made throughout our relationship. The other envelope was the word ‘WILL’ and had everything he will do for me and how he’d always be there. Next, I went to put on the outfit that my mom had picked out for me. Then, the guys took me to the next stop where my friends who I’ve known since elementary school were there with again, two envelopes. One with letters from all the girls we met throughout our relationship, and the other said ‘YOU’ and it was everything about how I much I meant to him. Finally, we went upstairs to where all our family was and they had a note that said ‘MARRY,’ and they told me to walk outside. John was there! He bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!”
 
A romantic little fairy tale, indeed! It was only fitting that I shot their engagement session on the campus of CNU where they met and began their relationship, as well as including a few Disney themed props down at the local historic Yorktown Beach. 
 
The two plan to be wed in December of next year. Can’t wait to capture them saying “I do” at their Disney themed wedding!!

Miss Grace Is ONE | A Lily & A Lollipop – First Birthday| VA Beach Family Photographer

What a sweeeet, sweet baby girl Miss Grace was at her FIRST birthday photo shoot!! The weather called for rain, but we attempted to take some indoor shots, and were so lucky to be able to take some outdoors and even on the gorgeous golf greens right outside (right before we ran from some showers)! 

Watch little Grace as she plays “he loves me, he loves me not” with a beautiful white lily, and then as she so adorably tries her very first lollipop!! The hardest thing about this session was picking which shots to use, because seriously Gracie was the most photogenic baby I’ve ever captured! 

Absolutely loved capturing such a sweet and special time for this family at Grace’s great uncle’s home in Virginia Beach. I know very well how exciting a time it is, especially for your first baby! 🙂
