Brynn | “Keeping the Peace” | Newborn Session | Nancy Wiley Photography | Virginia Beach Newborn Photographer

Sweet baby Brynn’s parents started their journey in not the most typical romantic environment. They like to tell people that they met in jail, and then usually get some pretty stunned looks and are asked for more details!! Jacqueline and Cody actually met at the Norfolk City jail where they both worked; Jacqueline as a nurse, and Cody as a police officer.

“We joke and say that we are the typical American family – a cop and a nurse!” Jacqueline shared. Cody was born and raised in Virginia, while Jacqueline is originally from Germany and moved to the States when she was 12. Jacqueline enlisted in the Army Reserves, which brought her to Virginia Beach. Check out the special poses of newborn Brynn with her daddy’s police cap and mommy’s uniform and dog tags!

Tiny Brynn kept her parents on their toes the whole pregnancy with small hiccups here and there, and decided to make her entrance into the world three weeks early! Brynn was what is called “Frank breech” inside her mommy’s womb, so her little legs stuck straight up in front of her body with her feet near her head. During her session, Brynn’s sweet legs decided they were most comfortable sticking straight out, sometimes right up in the air, even while completely relaxed and asleep! 🙂 Also check out the insanely cute little pout that Brynn puts on while her mommy was holding her! Too precious!!

Haley & Holly | Newborn & Big Sister Session | Nancy Wiley Photography | Virginia Beach Photographer

Loved capturing these beautiful girls!! Haley is such a sweet big sister. She just turned 6 years old! (Notice the number 6 she made with her hands?!) She patiently waited for her turn in front of the camera, and even designed her own backdrop design while waiting! (See the last two shots!) She also not only picked out her own outfits but her baby sister Holly’s little golden polka dot dress as well! When it was finally her turn, she soaked up every minute of her “model time!!”

Both girls share birthdays right before Christmas, and will undoubtedly share a very special bond over the years! Newborn Holly is captured here at 2 weeks old, and big sis Haley at 6 years old!

Luke Jonah | Little Brother to An Angel | Newborn Session | Virginia Beach Photographer

Baby Luke Jonah made his long-awaited debut into the world the week before Christmas. An incredibly special Christmas present to his parents Danielle and Jonah. Luke is not only Danielle and Jonah’s first son, but he is the proud little brother to a beautiful angel, his big sister Lydia Jaelle.

As Luke is a rainbow baby bringing joy and hope to his family, you will find him sporting his special rainbow hat with a ladybug in honor of his “Lydibug.” His little onesie states, “Hand picked for Earth by my sister in Heaven.” Luke was also wide awake and staring directly at me wearing his knit owl hat to go with his gray owl nursery, another honor to his sister Lydia who had a purple owl nursery. Finally, he shared some sweet cuddles (and smiles!!) with “Lydia Bear,” a specially crafted memorial bear that weighs the same exact weight as his sister did at birth. What an incredible honor it was to capture this amazing little boy who was sent from up above!

Yo Ho, A Pirate’s Life for Colton | Newborn Session | VA Beach Newborn Photographer

What a sweet pea this tiny pirate named Colton was for me!! The cute scallywag did gave his parents a little scare before he arrived into the world, and didn’t waste much time before he gave them yet another! Thankfully, all is well with little Colton now and he’s keeping his parents busy being a normal newborn troublemaker!

Appropriately, six years ago, Colton’s parents Jenn and Jason had their first date at the Pirate Exhibit at Nauticus, a maritime-themed science center and museum located on the downtown waterfront in Norfolk, Virginia. Pirate-loving Jenn professed that, “Jason knew the way to my heart.” ❤

Captain Colton was the perfect mini snoozing pirate for his newborn session with me! The little lad even let me use his awesome pirate treasure chest handcrafted by his grandpa.

Declan Patrick | Sweetest Baby on the Block | Virginia Beach Newborn Photographer

Declan Patrick… he will steal your heart in seconds!!! I honestly have never come across a sweeter, more content, and peaceful newborn. At only 14 days old, he was wide-eyed and alert for almost the entire session! Even smiling occasionally while awake, but mostly at his parents when they’d hold him! 🙂 I did not hear him make one little peep until our three hour session was almost over! Oh man, what a sweetheart. Hearing Declan’s parents’ story, you’ll see why they totally deserve a sweet baby like him!

Declan’s parents, Kate & Brian met in… get this… Kindergarten!!! Kate stated that, “He used to share his seat with me on the bus.” They were friends all through school in Columbiana, Ohio and started dating their senior year of high school. Kate & Brian spent one semester apart in college before Brian transferred to be with Kate. They were engaged the day that they graduated college, and married a year later! The two moved to Virginia shortly after their one year anniversary so that Kate could get a teaching job. Next month, they will be celebrating eight years of marriage, and 12 years as a couple!

Last summer Kate & Brian decided that the time was finally right to start a family, and the two not-so-secretly wanted a boy! When it was time for them for find out what they were having, they did a sweet little private gender reveal where Brian surprised Kate! During their ultrasound, Kate closed her eyes so that Brian could later reveal the sex of their baby to his wife. Kate popped a balloon and blue confetti went flying!! Brian also baked Kate a blue cake; however, during the baking of the blue cake, Brian accidentally spilled some blue coloring on his hands, so he then had to rub some red food coloring on his hands in order to not ruin the surprise for Kate!! Haha! Love it!

Kate & Brian very patiently awaited the birth of their son… even having to wait over a week after his due date for him to arrive! Declan was obviously worth the wait. Just take a look at this precious little face!!

Colin Patrick | Littlest Slugger | Newborn Session

So, in my post of Maria’s maternity session that I captured, she mentioned that she and Ethan could not wait to take their little slugger to baseball games in the future to share their passion with him. Well, in true baseball fan fashion, Colin waited to attend the Nationals-Reds game in his mommy’s belly on his due date before he decided to enter this world!! It seems Colin doesn’t want to miss a thing! With an extra tease for his parents, Colin also threatened to arrive early a few different times, only to be born a day LATE! Newborns… they’re UNpredictable!!

… But OH so cute!!!! I have always loooooooved babies, and newborns are just like the sweetest, purest, most joyous form of life that I personally am aware of, and so I jump at the opportunity to snuggle one any chance that I get! Colin was a total sweetheart. He was so well behaved after he had a full tummy, and I was able to shush his slight stirs quite easily! He even spared my beanbag and the pretty blue blanket from any eliminations… now, dad’s shirt and the white blanket did not fare as well. Haha!

Being together for over 8 1/2 years now, Maria & Ethan seem to have accepted the arrival of a newborn with grace and overwhelming love. They were so relaxed for first time parents and were such a great team already! No doubt that they have wanted this for a long time, and tiny Colin has shown up at the perfect time in their lives! This newborn session was shot in Maria & Ethan’s own home, which was so special as I was able to capture what life was like during Colin’s first days. I even got a quick shot of Colin in his sweet baseball themed nursery, and towards the end, Maria & Ethan’s sweet dog, Ruby, joined for a whole family photo!!
